Gesture Drawing: Anatomical Gestures – 21

Today’s practice was done with a calm mind, which significantly increased my focus and drawing efficiency.

Today is also the final day of working on the gesture assignment. Moving forward, uploads may become less frequent, or I may continue posting daily journal updates.

My conclusion from all gesture exercises — 2D, 3D, and anatomical gesture studies — is clear.

Practicing up to the 3D stage is sufficient, because gesture drawing is about capturing energy and movement, not detailed anatomy.

So in my opinion, the structured drawing process should be:

  1. Gesture
  2. Rough sketch (determining proportion, angle, and structure before placing solid forms)
  3. Detailed sketch (adding muscles, facial expression, hair, eyes, and anatomical refinement)
  4. Line art (no major changes at this stage, focusing purely on confident and clean line execution).
