Daily Drawing Practice: Integrating Head and Eye Frameworks

Hello, Sumine here.

Today, I will continue practicing how to integrate the head framework with the eye framework.

Warm-Up Session

Before starting, I did a quick warm-up.

In the first drawing, I sketched the basic head structure.

In the second drawing, I sketched the basic eye structure.

In this step, I experimented with the basic parallelogram shape of the eyelid and tried drawing it from different angles.

Here, I tried drawing from a slightly extreme angle.

Experimentation

In the fourth drawing, I started integrating the head framework with the eye framework I had practiced earlier.

Challenges I faced:

  1. Unable to determine the distance between the two eyeballs accurately
  2. Struggling to draw expressive eyes

In Figure 5, I tried drawing the head with eyes from an extreme camera angle.

New Eye Shapes

Experimenting with new eyelid shapes

In Figure 6, I experimented with a different eyelid shape.

This eyelid shape is closer to a realistic style.

In Figure 7, I combined the new eyelid shape with the head framework.

The result felt more compatible with the head structure.

Conclusion

From today’s practice:

Realistic eye shapes are easier to manage in extreme angles compared to parallelogram shapes.
